The share of hydroelectric decreased from 0.7 in 2009 to 0.65%
in 2012, while the share of coal declined from 0.25% to 0.2%
during the same period.

Natural Gas is playing an increasing role in energy consumption
in OAPEC member countries, as OAPEC members’ consumption of
natural gas increased over the period 2009-2012 at an annual rate of
6.6%. Natural gas consumption rose from 5.4 million boe/d in 2009
to 6.5 million boe/d in 2012.
Natural Gas consumption is concentrated mainly in four Arab
countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Egypt which
