Annual Report
Asia region has added 720,000 b/d to its refining capacity compared
to the previous year, while the Middle East region remained without
any new addition.

World Primary Distillation Capacity by Region, End of 2012
Despite of the increase recorded in North America and Asia
Pacific, the total capacity for catalytic conversion processes, which
include fluid catalytic cracking (FCC), catalytic hydrocracking, and
catalytic reforming, remained constant without change from its level
in 2011. It totalled to 31.64 million b/d at the end of 2012. This is
due to the decline in the unit’s capacity in Western Europe with about
100,000 b/d or 1.8% from its 2011 level and the increase in both North
America with about 40,000 b/d or 0.29% and in Eastern Europe with
about 60,000 b/d or 1.49%.
